 Learning objectives: Students will know in detail 

Introduction probability, theoretical and practical probability.

Different types of events like Sure event, impossible event, equally likely event, and occurrence of events.

Random experiment, outcomes, sample space (set representation including one coin, two coin, three coin, four coin, one die, two die, playing cards etc.)

Mutually exclusive events, exhaustive events.

Probability of the events with the special word: 'not', 'or', 'and', 'at least', 'at most'.

Axiomatic probability, connections with other theories of earlier classes.

Learning outcomes:

Students will develop the ability to understand

  1. Define and give meaning of probability.

  2. Correlated probability with real life situation.

  3. Calculate probability through an experiment.

  4. Deduce that probability of Head or Tail is ½ when we increase number of tosses.

  5. Find out the probability of the given events or or conditions by applying the formula. 

  6. Formulate theorems about the concept of probability. 

  7. Calculate probabilities using Conditional probability.

  8. Explain the concept of a random variable and the probability distributions.
